Flammable foam in home furniture is illegal. The FR Foam® logo is your guarantee to show that the foam we supply is 100% safe and legal.
There are some suppliers here in the UK selling and supplying none FR foam.
It is a legal requirement that the polyurethane foam produced by J&A Foam (Vitafoam) for use in domestic furniture must comply with BS7177 Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire)(safety) Regulations 1988 (amd 1989, 1993). Vitafoam takes its responsibility in relation to this regulation very seriously. In order to achieve compliance, no block of combustion modified foam is released for sale until an in–house test confirms compliance to the regulations. Additionally to fulfil due diligence obligations in this matter Vitafoam also subjects every grade of domestic furniture foam to test by independent UKAS accredited laboratories at a frequency of once every 6 months.
